As part of our functions to monitor, review and advise on the legislated adaptation objective, the letter contains priority recommendations to the Minister for Climate Change to address the risk of extreme heat and humidity in summer 2025-26.
The commission is currently investigating adaptation to extreme heat and humidity across NSW. This will be the subject of a future report given to the Minister on the commission’s own initiative under section 20 of the Climate Change (Net Zero Future) Act 2025.
The letter is not intended as a report under the Act.
